Commando Academy’s six-week alternative provision program is tailored for students aged 11-16 who face challenges in traditional schools due to trauma or involvement in criminal activities. We focus on building a supportive environment where they can regain confidence and resilience to help them successfully reintegrate into mainstream education.
Students engage in self-reflection to identify past mistakes and adopt effective strategies for future behaviour. They will learn techniques to foster positive habits and improve interpersonal interactions.
Through a variety of rural tasks, collaborative group projects and leadership exercises, students work on enhancing their confidence and recognise their strengths and potential.
Students develop outdoor skills such as woodland maintenance and shelter construction. These activities not only teach survival skills but also contribute to mental wellbeing and connecting with nature.
Leadership skills are honed through interactive games and command tasks, with a specific focus on managing emergency situations. Students practice decision-making, communication and team coordination.
Students gain hands-on experience in crafting professional CVs and cover letters, and explore various career paths and educational opportunities to enhance their job readiness.
Students plan, organise, and execute a community service project, gaining insight into the important of community engagement and impact of collective effort and compassion.
